Black Marans are the newest accepted variety in the US, being admitted in 2019. They are growing increasingly popular as many claim they lay the darkest eggs of all, and are easier to show than the colored varieties. They are shiney greenish-black in plumage from head to toe, with dark slate legs and black beaks. Eyes are reddish bay.
